Basketball Recap: Cobden Appleknockers vs. Shawnee Redskins
Cobden lost against Shawnee back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cobden Appleknockers received a blow as they fell 38-24 to the Shawnee Redskins. The Appleknockers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Cobden still got an impressive performance from Natalie Franklin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Franklin's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Garibay, who posted four points.
Shawnee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Young led the charge by putting up 19 points and three steals. Young is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Eva Ford was another key player, scoring two points in addition to 11 boards, seven steals, and six assists.
Cobden's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Shawnee, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-5.
Coming up, Cobden will face off against Cairo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Cobden is facing Cairo at the right time seeing as Cairo is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Shawnee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gallatin County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
