Football Recap: Sunray Takes a Loss

Sunray extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They lost 28-6 to the Spearman Lynx. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lynx apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Even if they lost, Sunray's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ethan Balderrama.

As for Spearman, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points over those games.

Brayson Goodheart was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 113 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries, and also picked up 73 receiving yards and one score. Another player making a difference was Jailen Vasquez, who threw for 106 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six passes.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunray will square off against Highland Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will be up against the Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Spearman, they will challenge Sanford-Fritch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lynx will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
