Softball Recap: Clearfield Gets the Win

Clearfield's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They never let the Woods Cross Wildcats get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by ten runs or more this season.

Jenna Lloyd made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Emma Dishongh and Skylar Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Dishongh scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Davis scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Davis also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Abbie Hale, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Clearfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Clearfield's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Woods Cross, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Clearfield is taking a road trip to take on Layton at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Woods Cross, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Summit Academy at 3:30 p.m.
