Basketball Game Preview: Lexington Golden Bears vs. Tanner Rattlers

The Lexington Golden Bears will challenge the Tanner Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lexington will be strutting in after a victory while Tanner will be coming in after a defeat.

Lexington is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Shoals Christian to the tune of 81-40 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Meanwhile, Tanner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elkmont.

Lexington will have to keep a close watch on Kaden Freeman and Matthew Fletcher, a pair of players who had a big impact on Tanner's prior game. Freeman went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points and three steals, while Fletcher went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points along with eight assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave Freeman a new career-high in points. Elyjah Jones was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points.

Tanner now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Lexington, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Lexington strolled past Tanner when the teams last played on January 7th by a score of 66-47. Does Lexington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tanner turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
