Basketball Recap: Central Woodstock's Run of Nine Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Central Woodstock unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 71-55 bruising from the Luray Bulldogs. The Falcons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 61-57.

Luray's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Owens, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 22 points and four steals. Owens has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Connor Hilliard was another key player, going 6-for-11 to rack up 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Central Woodstock's loss dropped their record down to 24-4. As for Luray, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-7.

Looking ahead, Central Woodstock will take on John Marshall at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (John Marshall has won seven straight at home, while Central Woodstock won 12 straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Luray does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
