Baseball Recap: College Park Find Success

While College Park's victory against Alhambra wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

Not much got past James Voorhies, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Alhambra off the board. Voorhies also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because College Park is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise.

At the plate, College Park saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vincent 'Tino' Vasell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Jack Carpenter also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

College Park now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Alhambra, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. College Park will head out to square off against Monte Vista at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Alhambra, they will venture away from home to face off against Campolindo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.2, the Cougars 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
