Preview: Mt. Pleasant Tigers vs. Eagleville Eagles
Mt. Pleasant is 1-6 against Eagleville since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers will be playing at home against the Eagleville Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Mt. Pleasant focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Mt. Pleasant made easy work of Zion Christian Academy and carried off a 55-33 victory. The victory was just what Mt. Pleasant needed coming off of a 72-30 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mt. Pleasant to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addison Workman, who scored 17 points along with 3 steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Workman has scored at least 25% of Mt. Pleasant's points. Ki'Yanna Armstrong was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Eagleville lost to Central Magnet at home by a decisive 53-37 margin on Monday. While losing is never fun, Eagleville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Central Magnet is ranked 95th).
The losses dropped Mt. Pleasant to 2-6 and Zion Christian Academy to 0-2.
Mt. Pleasant was taken down by Eagleville 63-26 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Mt. Pleasant avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
