Baseball Recap: Lumberton Takes a Loss

Lumberton has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.72 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell just short of the Silsbee Tigers by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Raiders have suffered against the Tigers since March 25, 2022.

Luke Cody made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Gavin Harmse, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Cody wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Lumberton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Lumberton dropped their record down to 12-5-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Silsbee, their record now sits at 12-4-1.

Looking ahead, Lumberton will venture away from home to face off against Jasper at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Silsbee, they will host Northside Falcons HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
