Softball Recap: Alcorn Central Bears vs. Wheeler Eagles
Alcorn Central took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Wheeler, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Alcorn Central Bears had just enough and edged out the Wheeler Eagles 5-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bears as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Sydnee Norman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Norman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Journey Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI.
Alcorn Central's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Wheeler, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
