Preview: Lee Central Stallions vs. Hartsville Red Foxes
The Lee Central Stallions's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hartsville Red Foxes at 8:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hartsville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lee Central, who comes in off a win.
On Saturday, Lee Central's game was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They pulled ahead with a 49-48 photo finish over Socastee.
Lee Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kiauj Allen, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rjay Spann, who scored six points along with seven assists and two steals.
Hartsville suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of North Myrtle Beach by a score of 53-50. While losing is never fun, Hartsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while North Myrtle Beach is ranked 34th).
Despite the defeat, Hartsville had strong showings from Dorian Knowles, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds, and EJ Smith, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Knowles scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shahquan Pendergrass, who scored five points.
Lee Central's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Hartsville, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-11.
Lee Central opened the new year with a less-than-successful 62-50 defeat to Hartsville. Can Lee Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
