Reagan Lorenzen and Ellie Kelleher secure win for Westfield

Recap: Westfield Shamrocks vs. Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans

The Westfield Shamrocks won the last time they faced the Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Westfield rang in the new year with a 59-52 win over Indianapolis Bishop Chatard. Given Westfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Indianapolis Bishop Chatard is ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westfield was led to victory by Reagan Lorenzen and Ellie Kelleher. Lorenzen scored 16 points along with five rebounds, while Kelleher scored 15 points. Kiarra Loveless was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Olivia Berzai, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Caskey, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Westfield's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westfield will take on Hamilton Heights at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hamilton Heights will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Guerin Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Guerin Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Thursday.
