            Baseball Recap: Overton Wolverines vs. Memphis Central Warriors        
        
		
        
        
            Overton took a eight-run  loss the last time they faced off against Memphis Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolverines sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  10-9  victory over the Warriors  on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Wolverines have posted  since April 10th.
 Xavier Smith and  Marquel Brooks did most of the damage at the plate:  Smith  got on base  in all four of his plate appearances with four  stolen bases, three  runs,  and one  double, while  Brooks  went 1-for-5 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and one  stolen base. Brooks has been hot for a while, having  posted  at least one  stolen base the last nine times he's  played.  Aiden Dillard was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with three  stolen bases, one  run,  and one  RBI.

 They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Overton  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. That's the most  hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Overton has  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Memphis Central, their defeat  ended  a  nine-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 20-6.
As of now, neither Overton nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
