Volleyball Recap: Encinal Comes Up Short

Encinal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Piedmont Highlanders. Jets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Highlanders since Tuesday.

Encinal started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-23.

Leading Piedmont to victory were Olivia Stevens and Skye PrataBaack. Stevens had 25 digs and two aces, while PrataBaack had six aces. Those six aces gave PrataBaack a new career-high. Carina Vora also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

Encinal's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Piedmont, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-5.

Encinal has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Westmoor on the 1st. As for Piedmont, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Castro Valley on the 2nd.
