Basketball Game Preview: Griffith Panthers vs. La Porte Slicers

Griffith hasn't had much luck against La Porte recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Griffith Panthers will head out to challenge the La Porte Slicers at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Griffith's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Friday, Griffith made easy work of Illiana Christian and carried off a 63-42 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Griffith got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jakhari Mackey out in front who posted 19 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Mackey has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianni Feaster, who had 17 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, La Porte unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of South Bend Washington by a score of 66-63. One positive for the Slicers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

La Porte's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Griffith, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Griffith came up short against La Porte in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 54-49. Can Griffith avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
