It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but St. Charles Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Archbishop Shaw Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Comets: when they faced off against the Eagles last Monday, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

St. Charles Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Shaw, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-17 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Charles Catholic will challenge Covenant Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will roll in looking for their 34th straight win, something the Comets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Archbishop Shaw, they will take on St. Martin's Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
