Basketball Recap: Mourning Skates Past Braddock with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mourning). They blew past the Braddock Bulldogs, posting a 64-36 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Sharks as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Makayla Dorvil had a dynamite game for Mourning, putting up 26 points. Those 26 points gave Dorvil a new career-high. Tyra Varisse was another key player, posting 17 points.

Mourning's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9. As for Braddock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Mourning and Braddock could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Mourning (ranked 462nd) will meet Homestead (ranked 114th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Mourning is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Meanwhile, Braddock will square off against North Miami at 5:00 p.m. on January 24th down 333 places (431 vs. 98).
