Basketball Recap: River Valley Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Austin Richardson and Braden Bennett

River Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Federal Hocking Lancers. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2016.

Despite the loss, River Valley had strong showings from Braden Bennett, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds, and Austin Richardson, who went 5 for 8 en route to 16 points and five boards. Landon Burns was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

River Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Federal Hocking, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-10 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Valley will square off against Vinton County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. River Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season. As for Federal Hocking, they will face off against Southern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
