The Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Gulf Shores Dolphins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mortimer Jordan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Mortimer Jordan gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 8-4 win over Jasper.

The team relied heavily on John Owen Dean, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nic Maldonado, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Dean wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Mortimer Jordan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. Mortimer Jordan is 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gulf Shores). They put the hurt on Robertsdale with a sharp 19-11 victory on Thursday. The Dolphins have beaten the Golden Bears the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Golden Bears has come to flipping the script.

Jacob O'Bryan was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Gulf Shores' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Tres Moore was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Gulf Shores picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 10-8. As for Mortimer Jordan, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Mortimer Jordan came up short against Gulf Shores when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 3-0. Can Mortimer Jordan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
