Basketball Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Canyon Springs Pioneers
Basic is 0-6 against the Pioneers since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Basic Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Canyon Springs Pioneers at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Basic is ranked 30th, while the Pioneers are ranked 26th).
After a string of four wins, Basic's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 59-51 to Del Sol.
Despite their defeat, Basic saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Natasha Harrison, who scored 16 points along with five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Harrison has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Meatoga-Ubiam, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Canyon Springs' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 54-36 to Foothill. Canyon Springs has not had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Basic's record now sits at 10-10. Canyon Springs' record now sits at 17-8.
Basic ended up a good deal behind the Pioneers in their previous matchup back in January, losing 63-45. Can Basic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
