Basketball Recap: Seymour Comes Up Short

Seymour has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-47 heartbreaker at the hands of the Holy Cross Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-53 back in January.

Despite the loss, Seymour still got an impressive performance from Skylar Barton, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Barton has posted since back in December of 2024. Jenna Pollastro was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Seymour smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Seymour's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Holy Cross, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.

Coming up, Seymour will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Seymour is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season. Holy Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
