Football Game Preview: Zeeland West Dux vs. West Catholic Falcons

The Zeeland West Dux will take on the West Catholic Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Zeeland West put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They blew past Wyoming 62-6. The victory continues a trend for the Dux in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when West Catholic duked it out with Forest Hills Eastern on Friday. The Falcons walked away with a 31-21 win over the Hawks. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Hawks are ranked 140th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Zeeland West better keep an eye on Connor Olszewski. He was instrumental in West Catholic's win, rushing for 123 yards on only 15 carries. Olszewski's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 123 rushing yards.

West Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for West Catholic, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Olszewski, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Zeeland West's record now sits at 6-2. As for West Catholic, their record is now 7-1.

Zeeland West strolled past West Catholic in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 34-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dux since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
