Basketball Game Preview: Spring Creek Gators vs. Rosewood Eagles

The Spring Creek Gators will venture away from home to challenge the Rosewood Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Spring Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Rosewood likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Spring Creek came up short against Pamlico County and fell 74-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (56), the Gators still had to take the loss.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nathan Jackson, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Chambers, who posted 22 points.

Even though they lost, Spring Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pamlico County only posted eight assists.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rosewood). They came out on top against North Duplin by a score of 63-54 last Monday.

Spring Creek has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Rosewood, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Spring Creek might still be hurting after the 65-44 loss they got from Rosewood in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Spring Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
