Sumrall is 9-1 against Columbia since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Sumrall Bobcats duke it out with Columbia Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Sumrall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Sumrall is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Purvis, who was ranked 12th at the time (Sumrall was ranked seventh). Sumrall took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Purvis on Tuesday.

Kara Applewhite made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ella Robertson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Columbia had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Forrest County Agricultural on Tuesday as Columbia made off with a 14-2 victory.

Sumrall's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 15-5. As for Columbia, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Everything went Sumrall's way against Columbia when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Sumrall made off with a 10-0 victory. Will Sumrall repeat their success, or does Columbia has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
