Softball Game Preview: Lakeland Dreadnaughts vs. City of Life Christian Academy Warriors

The Lakeland Dreadnaughts will square off against the City of Life Christian Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

If Lakeland beats City of Life Christian Academy with 14 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Dreadnaughts never let All Saints' Academy get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Wednesday. The Dreadnaughts haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Paige Bettcher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Bettcher was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Lakeland let Giana Fuentes and Brooke Martinez run wild. Fuentes went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Martinez went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Martinez has posted since back in March. Aniah-Stahr Crims-Aponte was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, City of Life Christian Academy made easy work of Warner Christian Academy on Thursday and carried off a 14-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Lakeland's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for City of Life Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
