Baseball Preview: Northside - Pinetown Panthers vs. Pamlico County Hurricanes
The Northside - Pinetown Panthers will head out to take on the Pamlico County Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
On Thursday, Northside - Pinetown didn't have quite enough to beat Manteo and fell 8-7. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Pamlico County and Northside - Pinetown had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Pamlico County's pitcher stepped up to hand Northside - Pinetown a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Hurricanes have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ross McLamb made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pamlico County is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise. McLamb was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lucas Browne was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Reid Carey also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Pamlico County's record now sits at 5-6. As for Northside - Pinetown, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
