Basketball Recap: Pace Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against M.L. King last Friday, Pace Academy came back down to earth. The Pace Academy Knights had to suffer through a 79-41 loss at the hands of the Creekside Seminoles. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Pace Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Xian Williams posted seven points and five rebounds. Kate Grice was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

C?India Dennis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Creekside, going 14 of 24 on her way to 33 points and eight rebounds. Dennis is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliha Harris, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points.

Pace Academy's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Creekside, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Pace Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-36 loss against Midtown on the 13th. As for Creekside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-46 win against Gainesville on the 13th.
