Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Pleasant Grove had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 7-5 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They never let the Elk Grove Thundering Herd get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 3rd.

Madeline Lawson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Lawson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jewel Vue, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Elk Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since February 25th.

On Elk Grove's side, Rachel Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

Coming up, Pleasant Grove will challenge St. Francis at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Elk Grove, they will square off against Cosumnes Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Wolfpack have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
