Basketball Recap: High Island Comes Up Short

High Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They were beaten by the Spurger Pirates 82-23. The Cardinals lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 50-47 score last time.

Despite the loss, High Island still got an impressive performance from Cam'Ron Medina, who posted 12 points. That was a full 52.2% of High Island's points, marking the 19th time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

High Island's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Spurger, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

High Island will take on Goodrich at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. High Island is facing Goodrich at the right time seeing as Goodrich is stuck on an 18-game losing streak. As for Spurger, they will challenge Chester at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
