Baseball Recap: Cassopolis Takes a Loss

After flying high against White Pigeon on Monday, Cassopolis came back down to earth. The Rangers fell just short of the Bangor Vikings by a score of 13-12 on Thursday. If the Rangers were looking for revenge after losing 6-5 to the Vikings when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Easton Mitchell put in work no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mitchell was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Mitchell wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Waylon Yakel, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another was Lane Leach, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Cassopolis suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 3-5-1. As for Bangor, their record is now 6-3-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cassopolis beat the Vikings by a score of 6-3 later that day.
