Recap: Curtis Baptist Crusaders vs. South Aiken Baptist Christian CRUSADERS
The Curtis Baptist Crusaders put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against South Aiken Baptist Christian as Curtis Baptist made off with a 78-54 victory. The result was nothing new for Curtis Baptist, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Curtis Baptist's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Treivan Wright led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Chas Beasley was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with four steals.
South Aiken Baptist Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colman Smith, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The game was Smith's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Dennis, who scored 16 points.
Curtis Baptist pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.1 points per game. As for South Aiken Baptist Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Curtis Baptist will head out on the road to face off against Horse Creek Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Horse Creek Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 211th in South Carolina, while Curtis Baptist is ranked 85th in Georgia). As for South Aiken Baptist Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ragin Prep Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m.
