Softball Recap: Hazen Highlanders vs. Liberty Patriots

Hazen lost against Liberty back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hazen Highlanders took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Patriots. Hazen has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hazen saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Grossnickle, who went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

On Liberty's side, Avery Huh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. Huh has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Mikayla Kato was incredible, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaila Siu, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Hazen's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Liberty, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

As of now, neither Hazen nor Liberty have any future games scheduled.
