Basketball Game Preview: Lourdes Central Catholic Knights vs. Johnson-Brock Eagles

The Lourdes Central Catholic Knights will face off against the Johnson-Brock Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Lourdes Central Catholic came up short against Exeter-Milligan/Friend and fell 62-55. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Bobcats are ranked 29th).

Meanwhile, Johnson-Brock put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Sterling for the full four quarters, racking up a 77-21 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 25 points or more this season.

Lourdes Central Catholic better keep an eye on Camden Dalinghaus. He was instrumental in Johnson-Brock's win, going 8 for 13 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Koehler, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Johnson-Brock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matchups.

Johnson-Brock's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Lourdes Central Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Lourdes Central Catholic was taken down by Johnson-Brock 70-16 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Lourdes Central Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
