Recap: Berwick Panthers vs. Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets
After a string of 11 wins, the Berwick Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Catholic of Pointe Coupee on the road by a decisive 51-34 margin. Berwick lost against Catholic of Pointe Coupee in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 30-10 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Berwick lost, one person who can't be blamed is Azyria Garrison. Despite the final result, she dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 18 rebounds, and ten blocks. The match was Garrison's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Bosman, who scored ten points.
Berwick's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-1. As for Catholic of Pointe Coupee, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Berwick is on the road again on Friday and play against Ascension Christian at 12:30 p.m. on December 22nd. Catholic of Pointe Coupee will finish 2023 at home by hosting St. Joseph's - Plaucheville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
