Marist dropped their record down to 12-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Saint Viator Lions by a score of 4-3. The RedHawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

John McAuliffe was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

As for Saint Viator, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

On Saint Viator's side, Hunter Mills tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Mills has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brandon Thomsen, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last ten matches.

While Marist had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
