Football Game Preview: Appleton North Lightning vs. Neenah Rockets

The Appleton North Lightning will venture away from home to challenge the Neenah Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Appleton North's defense has only allowed 12.2 points per game this season, so Neenah's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Neenah will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Appleton North extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Lightning came out on top against Hortonville by a score of 26-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lightning's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Polar Bears are ranked 129th).

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Neenah beat Oshkosh West 28-24 on Friday. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Appleton North's record is now 4-1. As for Neenah, their record now sits at an identical 4-1.

Appleton North came up short against Neenah when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 25-14. Can the Lightning avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
