Softball Recap: Cape Fear Takes Down Southern Alamance in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Cape Fear had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Southern Alamance Patriots on Friday. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.

McKinley Kolasa made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. Kolasa was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with four runs and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Addie Davis was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Amari Adams was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

Cape Fear is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Southern Alamance, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-15.

Cape Fear wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-2 loss against Scotland on the 13th. Southern Alamance does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
