Basketball Recap: Stansbury Comes Up Short

Stansbury suffered their closest defeat since January 7th on Friday. They fell just short of the Jordan Beetdiggers by a score of 57-54. The Stallions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Beetdiggers earlier this season, when they won 53-49.

Jordan was led to victory by Mason Tolley and Holden Warnick. Tolley went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points and seven assists, while Warnick went 8 for 18 to rack up 22 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was Tolley's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydon Griffith, who posted four points and seven boards.

Stansbury has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Jordan, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Stansbury will square off against Murray at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Murray knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Stansbury likes a good challenge. As for Jordan, they will face off against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillcrest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season.
