Softball Recap: Tustin's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

It was a good run, but Tustin unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Santa Ana Saints. The Tillers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Saints earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Emery Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tustin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Villareal, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Tustin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Santa Ana, their record now sits at 15-4-2.

Coming up, Tustin will look to defend their home field on Monday against Calvary Chapel at 3:15 p.m. As for Santa Ana, they will take on Godinez Fundamental at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.79 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of.
