Valley took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Jeffersontown, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Chargers 9-7. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Jeffersontown, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6-1.

Coming up, Valley will square off against Iroquois at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Jeffersontown, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against W.E.B. DuBois Academy at 5:30 p.m.
