The Cranston East Thunderbolts will be playing at home against the Moses Brown Quakers at 7:00 p.m. Cranston East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Rhode Island Rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Moses Brown is ranked second).
After a string of three wins, Cranston East's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They suffered a rough 49-29 defeat at the hands of Tiverton.
Cranston East's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jayna Gunderway, who scored 12 points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Moses Brown gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Tiverton, posting a 59-25 victory at home. Moses Brown is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 16 straight.
Moses Brown relied on the efforts of Jaelynn Perez, who scored ten points along with seven assists and seven rebounds, and Lauren Bousquet, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Bousquet has scored at least a third of Moses Brown's points. Marielle Nassiff was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Cranston East's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Moses Brown, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with that win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season.
Cranston East suffered a grim 65-42 defeat to Moses Brown in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bousquet, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
