Basketball Recap: Excel Academy Charter Comes Up Short

Excel Academy Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneer Charter School of Science Panthers. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Excel Academy Charter still got an impressive performance from Angel Figueroa, who posted 36 points. The match was Figueroa's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Davier Hernandez, who put up eight points.

Excel Academy Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Pioneer Charter School of Science, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Excel Academy Charter will host Prospect Hill Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pioneer Charter School of Science, they will welcome Salem Academy Charter at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
