Baseball Game Preview: Perry County Vikings vs. McEwen Warriors

The Perry County Vikings will head out to take on the McEwen Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Perry County had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but McEwen put an end to it on Monday. Perry County took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of McEwen. That makes it the first time this season the Vikings have let down their home crowd.

For McEwen's part, Tylon Carter made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Carter was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Cayden Wallace looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Kainan Gill was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Gill is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Ben McPherson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for McEwen and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Perry County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
