Coronado faced Palo Verde in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Panthers. Coronado might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by three goals or more this season.

The victory (which was Coronado's sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six matches. As for Palo Verde, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coronado will square off against Shadow Ridge at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Palo Verde, they will face off against Doral Academy Red Rock at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
