Soccer Game Preview: Buckeye vs. Desert Edge

The Buckeye Hawks will head out to square off against the Desert Edge Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buckeye will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Desert Edge better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Buckeye really get things going. Everything went Buckeye's way against Casa Grande on Friday as Buckeye made off with a 3-0 victory. Three seems to be a good number for the Hawks as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Desert Edge fought the good fight in their overtime match against Carl Hayden Community on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 4-3. While losing is never fun, the Scorpions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Falcons are ranked 25th).

Desert Edge has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8-2 record this season. As for Buckeye, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.

Buckeye skirted past Desert Edge 3-2 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buckeye since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
