Football Recap: Thomas Sumter Academy Comes Up Short

Thomas Sumter Academy suffered their biggest defeat since August 22nd on Friday. They were dealt a 42-12 loss at the hands of the Wilson Hall Barons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Generals of the 44-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Although Thomas Sumter Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Clay Team and Christian Williams.

Ben McLaurin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wilson Hall, rushing for 161 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries. McLaurin really tore up the turf during one magnificent 90-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ford Wilder, who rushed for 19 yards and two scores.

Thomas Sumter Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Wilson Hall, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas Sumter Academy will venture away from home to square off against Orangeburg Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Generals' defense better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 42.6 points per game this season. As for Wilson Hall, they are taking a road trip to take on First Baptist School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Barons are facing the Hurricanes at the right time seeing as the Hurricanes are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
