Basketball Recap: Sparta Academy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sparta Academy can now relate to. They took a 44-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North River Christian Chargers on Tuesday.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carly Gauna, who posted 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Those 13 points gave Gauna a new career-high. Caroline Hildreth was another key player, putting up three points along with nine steals and five assists.

Sparta Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for North River Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

While Sparta Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
