Basketball Game Preview: Crossroad Academy Scorpions vs. Hawthorne Hornets

Two dominant guards in Forrest Dudley and Chasion Wilson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Crossroad Academy Scorpions will square off against the Hawthorne Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crossroad Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Crossroad Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Fort White by a score of 46-37.

Meanwhile, Hawthorne had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 69-44 margin over the Tigers. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th in Florida, while the Tigers are ranked 430th in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Crossroad Academy better focus on containing Wilson and Dacarion Debose as the pair were huge in Hawthorne's win. Wilson went 7-for-8 en route to 16 points and four steals, while Debose went 6-for-12 on his way to 14 points and five boards. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kelvin Baker, who posted eight points and three steals.

Hawthorne's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Crossroad Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 17-9.
