Baseball Recap: Milpitas Takes a Loss

Milpitas had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-17 to make it eight. They lost 9-0 to the Palo Alto Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 on Wednesday.

As for Palo Alto, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.

For Palo Alto's part, not much got past Jackson Ehrlich, who gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks to keep Milpitas off the board. Ehrlich also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Vikings are 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nate Robinson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Carter Bader was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milpitas will welcome Los Gatos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Palo Alto, they will be playing at home against Hollister at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Haybalers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
