Lumberton has gone a perfect 8-0 against Ashley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Lumberton will host Ashley at 5:00 p.m. Lumberton has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lumberton is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Purnell Swett just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. Pirates fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rams since on Tuesday.

Maliyah Hardin and Jaelyn Hammond did some serious damage despite the final result: Hardin scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Hammond scored a run while going 3-for-5. Those three runs gave Hardin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leea Wilkins, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Lumberton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. This was only their second loss (out of six games) when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Ashley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 14-1 to Hoggard. That's two games in a row now that the Screaming Eagle have lost by exactly 13 runs.

Ashley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lumberton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Ashley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lumberton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. It's a different story for Ashley, though, as they've only averaged .160. Will they be able to contain Lumberton's hitters?

Lumberton took their victory against Ashley in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 11-0. Does Lumberton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ashley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
