Softball Recap: Gadsden Comes Up Short

Gadsden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Canutillo Eagles. One positive for the Panthers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Brianna Flores was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 5-for-5. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. Abygail Rodriguez was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Gadsden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Gadsden's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Canutillo, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Coming up, Gadsden will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Chaparral at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Canutillo, they will be taking part in a tournament against Hereford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
